The Construction Accountant plays a crucial role in providing financial support, guidance, and oversight for our construction clients. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment, working alongside a diverse team of professionals to assist clients with their daily accounting and financial reporting needs. This position is essential in ensuring that the quality and compliance of our work product meet the highest standards. The Construction Accountant will review entries made by Project Coordinators, Bookkeepers, and other support staff, including the review of AIA draws and pay applications for accuracy. In this role, the Construction Accountant will support the construction services team by ensuring compliance with GAAP and financial statement reporting within established internal control procedures. This includes reconciling accounts, preparing Work in Progress (WIP) schedules, analyzing reports, and reviewing work provided by support staff. A keen eye for detail and a solid understanding of GAAP and construction accounting reporting requirements tied to FASB/AICPA regulations are essential. The candidate will also partner with the Corporate Tax team and leadership to stay updated on requirements and the implementation of any new standards. Key duties include working closely with construction clients and their support staff, reconciling general ledger accounts, bank statements, and credit card statements, preparing and maintaining WIP schedules, analyzing and reconciling payroll benefits, processing payroll, and job costing within the accounting program. The Construction Accountant will also handle AIA Draws, pay applications, progress billings, and cost coding, as well as process or review accounts payable items provided by project coordinators. Additionally, the role involves preparing journal entries, maintaining supporting records, answering accounting and financial questions, preparing budgets, complex financial reporting, and KPIs, and assisting with other tasks in financial statement reporting and compliance as needed.
