About The Position

Job Summary: Provides direct behavioral support to patients at risk of harm to self or others, due to a mental illness or inability to care for self, under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse (RN) and leadership. Maintains proper supervision of patients in line of sight, as a room sitter, or one-on-one. Identifies behavior and statements that require intervention by the psychiatric staff.

Requirements

  • High School Education/GED or equivalent
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required in CA

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience
  • Experience in direct patient supervision
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification

Responsibilities

  • Monitors patients on involuntary holds initiated by law enforcement or court order and patients deemed a suicide risk, as determined by the provider.
  • Monitors patients who need fall protection, are in a state of confusion and/or agitations and at risk of self-harm e.g., wandering.
  • Monitors patients who are deemed at risk of hurting themselves by interference of therapeutic equipment.
  • Assist patient with activities of daily living within their scope of practice.
  • Monitors any changes in behavior and report the RN or provider.
  • Follows safety protocols and infection control policies.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
