Position Summary: The Constant Observer duties include constant supervision in which continuous one to one monitoring techniques are utilized to assure the safety and well-being of a patient. This position is under the supervision of the Emergency Department Manager and the Charge Nurse/Supervisor on duty. The Constant Observer will assure the patient is safe, comfortable and secure. Is able to identify any out of ordinary or emergency situation and advises appropriate patient staff members promptly. Communicates with the patient and family members in a professional and positive manner. Communicates with staff any needs of self or patient in prompt manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Prefer Adult School or College completed healthcare coursework.
  • Prefer minimum one year healthcare/medical environment work experience.
  • In compliance with patient safety standards, must be able to effectively communicate in English; Spanish Bilingual Preferred.
  • Pursues programs of continuing education, participates in educational conferences, and updates.
  • Maintains knowledge and skills related to area of practice.
  • American Heart Association BCLS certificate obtained within 3 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • CA Certified Nursing Assistant License preferred.
  • Spanish Bilingual Preferred.
  • Prefer Adult School or College completed healthcare coursework.
  • Prefer minimum one year healthcare/medical environment work experience.
