Console Operator

Console Operators at Duke Energy play a crucial role in providing optimum security services across the entire Duke footprint. This position involves monitoring various electronic security systems, including physical access control systems (PACS), intrusion detection systems, video surveillance, and badge verification. Operators are responsible for ensuring the safety of Duke Energy employees and property by responding to alarms and maintaining enterprise situational awareness. The role requires a proactive approach to security, including managing gate access and handling a high volume of calls while adhering to regulatory requirements. In addition to monitoring security systems, Console Operators are tasked with maintaining accurate records of events, creating detailed reports, and performing data entry across multiple databases. They must follow established procedures and assist with general administrative tasks as needed. The role also includes basic investigative functions, such as reviewing video footage, conducting follow-up interviews, and writing incident reports. Operators may act in the capacity of a Senior Console Operator, which involves additional responsibilities such as incident report writing and alarm signoff. Training will be provided to ensure that all operators are equipped to handle the demands of the position effectively. The work environment is dynamic, requiring the ability to interact professionally with various stakeholders, including corporate investigators, law enforcement, and government agencies. Console Operators must be strategic in their approach while also possessing tactical abilities to respond to security threats appropriately.
