The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) is seeking to hire Conservation/Historic Preservation Workers (CW’s) for temporary seasonal positions not exceeding six months, to work at various locations throughout Illinois, including Fort Massac State Park. Under immediate supervision, CW’s will perform routine maintenance and janitorial duties for site buildings and public use areas, which includes groundskeeping, cleaning shelters, shower houses, and privies, and trash disposal. They will also operate and perform routine maintenance on equipment and vehicles, such as cleaning and repairing hand tools, and changing fluids and filters. Additionally, CW’s will assist in habitat management and various hunting programs. Some positions may also involve site interpretation. The IDNR is charged with preserving, protecting, and promoting Illinois' natural and cultural resources, overseeing water, wildlife, wetlands, oil wells, parks, and historic sites. The Office of Land Management (OLM) oversees nearly 400 land parcels and promotes outdoor recreation through sustainable use, conservation, and preservation, including 57 Historic Sites, Monuments, and Memorials, facilitating activities from interpretive programming to hiking, hunting, fishing, boating, and camping.
