About The Position

The volunteer position at Intermountain Medical Center is designed for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of patients and their families. Volunteers are expected to commit to a minimum of six months, providing 3-4 hours of service each week. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage with diverse populations, assist in various capacities, and contribute positively to the hospital environment.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Ability to work independently and alone.
• Good communication and listening skills.
• Ability to follow instructions accurately.
• Capability to work with diverse populations.
• Physical mobility including walking, bending, and standing.
• Adequate hearing and vision to perform tasks effectively.
• Sensitivity to patient and family situations.

Responsibilities

• Engage with individuals in Guest Services, helping them navigate the facility and reach their appointments.
• Keep guests updated in the Surgical Waiting Room regarding their patients undergoing surgery.
• Assist patients and staff in the Emergency Room by meeting their needs.
• Help customers in the Gift Shop with purchases, pricing items, and operating the cash register.
• Play music in the hospital lobby to enhance the atmosphere.
• Escort guests within the facility using a golf cart.
• Visit patients to provide companionship and offer courtesy items.
