About The Position

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Regional or Urban Planning, Political Science, Public Administration, or a similar field.
  • Experience or training in project or program solicitation, screening, and selection through coursework, work experience, or internships.
  • Experience or training in reviewing, analyzing, and commenting on plans and/or reports through coursework, work experience, or internships.
  • Experience or training with contemporary transportation issues, policies, and practices through coursework, work experience, or internships.
  • Experience or training with communication and public presentation skills through coursework, work experience, or internships.
  • Experience or training with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) and GIS software through coursework, work experience, or internships.
  • Experience working collaboratively within a team and with external groups through coursework, work experience, or internships.
  • Experience meeting deadlines and utilizing organizational and time management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or training in public administration or related fields.
  • Familiarity with federal transportation planning processes and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with oversight of the COGs/MPOs development of federal transportation planning processes including UPWPs, MTPs, and PIPs.
  • Function as a CTDOT liaison with COG/MPOs and municipalities to ensure clear communication on transportation programs and projects.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with federal planning requirements.
  • Assist in the review and approval of MPO/COG invoices.
  • Assist in overseeing the selection, screening, and completion of MPO/COG planning studies.
  • Aid in managing planning studies included in the UPWPs.
  • Assist in overseeing the selection, screening, and completion of CMAQ and TAP projects.
  • Assist with the coordination of monthly and quarterly COG Coordination meetings.
  • Participate in conferences, webinars, and meetings, including in-person meetings with various stakeholders.
