The Conflicts & CDD Analyst supports the Firm's global Risk team in advising senior management, partners, and legal and office staff on legal and regulatory matters, with a dual focus on Conflicts of Interest and Anti-Money Laundering (AML). This junior-level position plays a critical role in the client and matter onboarding process, ensuring compliance with Firm procedures and regulatory obligations. Key responsibilities include conflicts analysis, first-level review of conflict check requests, support for lateral hire onboarding, audit and trade requests, and conducting client due diligence (CDD), sanctions screening, and comprehensive risk assessments. The role also contributes to policy development, maintenance of compliance systems, and ongoing risk initiatives. The successful candidate must be able to respond effectively to time-sensitive issues with clear, precise communication while managing day-to-day conflicts and AML responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 1+ years of experience in a professional or legal office environment preferred
  • Client onboarding experience within an international law firm, professional services firm, or financial institution preferred
  • Understanding of conflicts rules, geopolitics, corporate structures, and governance issues preferred
  • Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, professional bar rules and AML/sanctions regulations
  • Experience with IntApp Open or similar conflicts management systems advantageous
  • Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to provide practical, commercially-focused guidance
  • Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines
  • Professional demeanor when engaging with personnel at all levels
  • Strong client service orientation with ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Methodical problem-solving approach with ability to deconstruct complex issues

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough research, analysis, and documentation of potential conflicts of interest associated with new clients and matters, lateral hires, trade reports, and audits
  • Provide first-level analysis of conflict check reports for new business and lateral hires for attorney review
  • Update data in conflicts databases as necessary and conduct corporate research using internal and external resources to verify information accuracy
  • Advise on day-to-day conflicts queries and provide practical guidance on conflicts-related matters
  • Support the client and matter onboarding process by conducting comprehensive risk assessments for new clients and matters
  • Perform CDD checks, sanctions screening, and reputational risk analysis in accordance with AML regulations and Firm policies
  • Conduct jurisdictional and geopolitical risk assessments and identify additional steps or documentation required to complete onboarding
  • Produce intake-related reports and maintain accurate onboarding documentation
  • Maintain internal databases through updates, corrections, and enhancements to client and matter records
  • Support the management of breach logs, risk registers, and internal knowledge repositories
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and detailed record-keeping across all systems
  • Conduct ad-hoc research and analysis as required
  • Support special projects related to Firm-wide compliance, conflicts initiatives, and risk management
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects and initiatives as they arise
  • Be available for occasional overtime during evenings, weekends, or certain holidays as needed
