About The Position

The firm is currently recruiting for a Conflicts Attorney for either the Roseland or New York office. This position will be responsible for providing analysis and critical assessment of new business intake and other matters with specific conflicts clearance responsibilities; guidance and implementing department administrative objectives as needed, overseeing and serving as a department and Firm resource for Outside Counsel Guidelines (OCGs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), lateral conflicts checks, and ethical screens; and actively participating in decision making in connection with conflicts resolution, business clearance and related ethics matters. This position will work closely with the Office of the General Counsel, the Conflicts Department, Talent Acquisition Department, firm management, attorneys, and other administrative departments.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate degree and active member of the Bar in good standing
  • At least 2 years’ experience working in a corporate law firm as a Conflicts Attorney
  • Experience working with Intapp platform preferred
  • Knowledge of laws, Rules of Professional Conduct, and risk management requirements governing conflicts of interest and conflicts resolution processes
  • Experience doing legal and corporate affiliation research
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and work within tight deadlines
  • Ability to understand, analyze, interpret, and prepare complex conflict reports
  • Ability to treat sensitive/confidential information with appropriate discretion
  • Be familiar with and adhere to all firm policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates flexibility with work schedule, including variable start and end times based on business needs and at times without prior notice

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with the Intapp conflicts management platform
  • Familiarity with corporate transactional work, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity, or capital markets
  • Background in litigation conflicts analysis and case-related ethical considerations
  • Prior experience at an AmLaw 150 or similarly sized law firm
  • Knowledge of technology, life sciences, or financial services industries—core practice areas for the firm
  • Experience with new business intake processes and client onboarding procedures

Responsibilities

  • Review conflict reports prepared in connection with the business intake process. Identify potential legal and business conflicts of interest issues, and provide detailed analysis and advice directly to partners, and collaborate with members of the firm to resolve conflict issues.
  • Assist in drafting waivers or other documentation for Partner review and/or submission to clients.
  • Review conflict reports prepared in connection with the new hire process; provide detailed analysis and advice directly to the lateral recruiting team and firm partners as well as advising new hires on conflict issues.
  • Implement and maintain ethical walls and other legal screens.
  • Provide guidance to Conflicts team in support of the business intake process, including best practices.
  • Assist in drafting standard engagement letters and editing letters drafted by others.
  • Answer queries from attorneys and professional staff across the firm, concerning business intake policies and procedures, conflicts of interest, and other firm policies.
  • Maintain thorough, accurate and current records of all conflicts resolutions to ensure integrity of the database and assist in identification and clearing of future conflicts of interest.
  • Monitor ongoing matters for emerging conflicts and ensure timely resolution of identified issues
  • Stay current on developments in legal ethics, professional responsibility rules, and industry best practices
  • Work on ad hoc projects that arise from time to time.
  • Be available for urgent matters, including evenings and weekends.
