About The Position

Our team is responsible for ensuring the Firm adheres to all regulatory and legal requirements while maintaining high standards of ethical conduct. Our team plays a crucial role in managing legal and commercial risk and ensuring that new client engagements are in line with the Firm’s strategic goals and regulatory requirements. A key aspect of our role includes conducting thorough conflict-of-interest checks to identify and address any potential conflicts before opening new matters and running anti-money laundering and reputational risk checks before onboarding new clients. We provide guidance on risk assessment, compliance with legal standards and the development of effective client onboarding processes. Our Compliance and New Business team develops, implements, and oversees compliance policies and procedures to mitigate legal risks and ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations across all jurisdictions. We conduct internal audits and compliance reviews, provide training and guidance on regulatory matters, and address any potential compliance issues or violations. Our team also collaborates with external regulatory bodies, manages compliance reporting, and helps shape the Firm’s compliance strategy in response to evolving legal and regulatory landscapes. By safeguarding the Firm’s reputation, meticulously managing conflicts of interest and supporting new business development, the Compliance and New Business team plays a crucial role in maintaining the Firm’s integrity and operational excellence, and alignment with its ethical and strategic objectives. Position Summary This role will include providing assistance to the Office of the General Counsel, Partners, fee earners and paralegals in relation to processing, analyzing and resolving conflict concerns and new matter approvals necessary to quickly and accurately provide information for resolutions, searches and to activate matters related to new business intake. The ideal candidate must have a positive attitude, exercise common sense and sound commercial judgement and be able to communicate effectively with many levels of operation within the Firm. This role will involve providing direct support, including research and analysis, to the Office of the General Counsel related to conflict resolution and compliance with conflicts rules globally. Additional aspects of the role will involve mentoring junior analysts, working across the team globally, and insuring the work adheres to the Firm’s high standards and expectations, meeting the policy and research guidelines set out by the Office of the General Counsel. Additional tasks may include assisting with training PA’s, providing team feedback, participating in workshops and opportunities to improve processes and workflow.as well as providing other support as needed.

Requirements

  • University degree in Law, Business, Finance or Marketing preferred but not essential.
  • Two years minimum relevant work experience required.
  • Strong academic record, problem solving skills, intellectual curiosity, creative thinker and motivated to provide excellent work product.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact with people at all levels.
  • Exhibit mature judgement and appropriate handling of confidential information.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Pragmatic, self-motivated, flexible and able to work individually and as part of a team as well as the ability to take direction, assignments and accommodate changes to processes and workflow with a positive attitude.

  • Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in MS Office, and experience with file management systems such as intapp, Knovos, and iManage preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed research and analysis on clients of the Firm, their shareholders and beneficial owners.
  • Using external and internal databases to ensure full compliance, on a documented risk basis, with global conflicts and AML rules and regulations to which the Firm is subject.
  • Process basic and complex types of conflict search and new matter requests and all of the related activities including adherence to our client and matter risk policies.
  • Process reactivation and additional party requests and all of the related activities including KYC research.
  • Conduct KYC research and conflict search in relation to client and matter name changes.
  • Gain knowledge on multi-jurisdictional ethical rules and regulations with a focus on US and UK conflict rule application.
  • Provide analysis, recommendations and address conflict issues as needed for many different types of requests.
  • Collaborate with Senior Conflicts Analysts, management, new business attorneys, compliance, finance, systems and OGC Team members.
  • Performs any other duties that may be assigned by Management.
