Booz Allen HamiltonWashington, DC

About The Position

The Configuration Manager will leverage expertise in the configuration management (CM) processes within planning, design, implementation, testing, and release phases of a developmental and operational systems life cycle for both hardware and software. The role involves identifying configuration items (CIs), implementing change control, configuration status accounting, and configuration audits. The manager will participate in review boards, process change proposals, and enforce change management requirements. The position requires working on a team to create and maintain software, hardware, and documentation configuration baselines, including development, test, and production. The Configuration Manager will modify CM plans and procedures tailored to the complexity and scope of the developmental or operational system, implementing CM discipline for the entire life cycle of systems from initial requirements and capabilities baselines to system end-of-life. Daily interactions with engineering, development, test, cybersecurity, support, and help desk teams are essential to capture change requests and maintain authorized baseline configurations for lifecycle support. The role also includes tracking all problems and changes in product documents and software, reporting changes, controlling standard operating procedures, and current configurations. The manager will interface with vendors and other contractors to forecast changes to hardware and software configurations and facilitate distribution to development, engineering, and cybersecurity teams as necessary. The use or recommendation of automated CM tools to implement CM policies and procedures is expected, along with conducting quality assurance on all CM developed and deliverable products, managing and inputting information within CM and logistics tools, and generating consolidated reports reflecting hardware, software, and logistics information. The Configuration Manager will work individually on CM tasks or projects to ensure project completion and implement desired and declarative state CM via commonly used CM tools to manage and maintain artifact repositories, cloud infrastructure, containers, networking components, servers, and other physical devices as necessary. Additionally, the role involves implementing or enhancing and maintaining a CM database to provide streamlined operations and maintenance.
