SAIC is seeking an experienced Configuration Management Specialist to support the Department of the Air Force's Command, Control, Communications Battle Management (C3BM) mission. This contingent hire position focuses on implementing and sustaining Configuration Management (CM) processes for enterprise IT systems and cloud-based environments. The specialist will play a critical role in modernizing and maintaining IT systems, applications, and infrastructure to meet operational requirements. Collaborating with mission partners and customers, the selected candidate will ensure the accurate tracking and management of Configuration Items (CIs) throughout their lifecycle, leveraging both on-premises and cloud solutions. An active DoD Secret clearance with eligibility for TS/SCI is required, as is expertise in repositories, IT inventory management, and secure technical reporting. This position is Hybrid Remote with most of the wor being done in Arlington, VA. Key responsibilities will include applying CM principles to hardware, software, and mission file management, with a particular focus on cloud environments such as Amazon Web Services (AWS). The specialist will implement CM practices for tracking system changes, maintaining IT inventories, and securely managing mission-critical data files for weapons systems. Ensuring compliance with all Government IT standards and supporting seamless integration efforts with mission partners are central to the role. Requirements

  • Active DoD Secret clearance with eligibility for TS/SCI
  • Expertise in repositories, IT inventory management, and secure technical reporting
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or a related field
  • 9+ years of experience in Configuration Management (CM) or IT systems management, including at least 5 years in cloud environments (AWS) or Department of Defense (DoD) settings
  • IAT Level II certifications (e.g., Security+, CE, CCNA-Security)
  • AWS Cloud Practitioner certification
  • Proficiency in managing systems within AWS or other cloud platforms
  • Expertise with CM tools such as Jira, GitLab, and Artifactory
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and scripting for code maintenance and review
  • Strong understanding of DoD IT systems
  • Ability to create technical reports, documentation, and presentations for stakeholders

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in high-paced environments managing simultaneous CM responsibilities for complex projects
  • Advanced knowledge of modern CM tools, deployment frameworks, and DevOps methodologies—such as CloudFormation and Git-based systems
  • Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or SAFe methodologies
  • A track record of evaluating and improving CM workflows and documentation processes
  • Certifications in ITIL, Agile, or related service management disciplines
  • A history of supporting customer-facing applications and delivering user-centric IT solutions
