The Conference Services Media Specialist Per Diem works under the supervision of the Media Services Coordinator and is responsible for supporting conferences and events including, medical center audio visual equipment including set-up, troubleshooting, operation, and strike. Operates large events/conferences and has a proficient knowledge of digital projection systems, audio engineering, web conferencing, laptop computers (PC and Mac), and Microsoft Office software. Multi-tasks in a highly visible environment, possess outstanding assignments in accord with established timelines, demonstrates initiative, resourcefulness and prioritization skills. Primary duties include: Operates and assists large-scale events in our main auditoriums. Liaison with event coordinators running multiple presentations, video projection, audio reinforcement, web conferencing and streaming, lighting, and any other A/V needs. Supports virtual/hybrid events including acting as Host and/or Co-host, managing and assisting with participant's sound and video, coordinating recording and media playback, providing technical support, implementing 3rd party Closed-Captioning services, and additional responsibilities as determined. Assists in web conferencing including Zoom, WebEx, Teams and other platforms as necessary. Reads schematics, assesses signal flow from diagrams, troubleshoot to the component level and devise "workarounds" in high-stress situations in order to keep live content up and running within the context of real-time conferences. Reads and interprets room diagrams & setup sheets with respect to A/V setups. Assess customer needs and directs work to appropriate staff. Works with clients to address incidents, resolves problems and informs Coordinator/Manager when appropriate. Assists departmental organizers and clients with A/V run-throughs to ensure the comfort of presenters and provide basic instruction on the operation of A/V equipment, as needed. Assists Senior Media Specialist or Media Services Coordinator with on-the-ground technical A/V support in the 34 conference rooms under the Conference Services Department. This role is designed to assist with special events on an as needed basis.
