About The Position

The Ohio Technology Consortium (OH-TECH) is seeking a Conference Planner and Consortia Services Assistant who will be responsible for providing assistance to the Lead Conference Planner and to the Consortia Services staff by effectively and efficiently planning conferences, events, and meetings for the units within OH-TECH and the Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE); and by providing backup support for Facilities Manager. The ideal candidate will have the ability to multitask the needs of multiple events concurrently, carry out various tasks with efficiency and in a timely manner, and have a high degree of attention to details. The person will be able to work successfully as part of a team. OH-TECH, the technology and information division of the Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE), functions as an umbrella organization for Ohio’s statewide technology infrastructure organizations: OARnet, the Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC), and OhioLINK (Ohio Library and Information Network). Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience listening to the needs of clients and attendees in a compassionate and helpful manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Experience in coordinating events.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Teams.
  • Ability to stand and work on your feet for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, business administration, or customer service-focused degree
  • Completed credentials such as the Certified Special Events Professional, the Certified Meeting Professional, and/or the Certified Event Planning Specialist certification
  • Experience using an event software platform

Responsibilities

  • Help the Lead Conference Planner in all phases of event planning, including but not limited to utilizing event software, purchasing, scheduling, maintaining event documentation, staffing events, and drafting communications.
  • Provide administrative support by handling travel, supplies, and the logistics of internal and external events.
  • Maintaining the conference rooms and working closely with the Shared Infrastructure team to ensure the technology within the conference rooms is working properly.
  • Assist the Facilities Manager as necessary.
