About The Position

The School of Music, Theatre, and Dance (SMTD) at Colorado State University is seeking full-time or part-time, temporary Music Instructors to teach Applied Music Instruction courses in the music division and to coordinate special programs. Applicants are added to a pool list, with hiring decisions made throughout the year for fall, spring, and summer terms. SMTD empowers students to create, collaborate, innovate, and inspire through teaching, creative artistry, research, advocacy, and service, elevating arts education. The school comprises 46 tenured/tenure-track faculty and 55 contract, continuing, and adjunct faculty, serving over 550 students, including 375 undergraduate and graduate students in residential and online music degree programs. SMTD is located in the University Center for the Arts, a 350,000 square foot facility featuring a 550-seat concert hall, a 275-seat organ and chamber music recital hall, a 320-seat thrust theatre, a 100-seat black box theatre, a 200-seat dance theatre, along with dedicated rehearsal, production, research spaces, classrooms, labs, and practice rooms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Music, with a conducting or music education focus.
  • Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (for all new hires).

Nice To Haves

  • Documented teaching experience at the college or university level.
  • Five years of public school or related conducting experience.
  • Master's degree in Music, with a conducting or music education focus.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching assignment in Conducting/Ensemble and/or related topics, based on departmental need.
  • Service to the Music program.
  • Office Hours are required.
