About The Position

As an ACI (American Concrete Institute)/PennDOT Certified Concrete Technician/ Plant Technician for Swank Construction Company, LLC, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and integrity of concrete used in various construction projects, particularly those related to highways and infrastructure. Your responsibilities will involve overseeing concrete production processes, conducting quality control tests, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Requirements

  • ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician Level I Certificate (or higher) - Required.
  • Certified PennDOT Plant Technician - Required/ Willingness required to become certified
  • Valid Driver's License - Required.
  • Relevant experience in concrete production and quality control, preferably in highway construction projects- Required.
  • Strong knowledge of ACI/ ASTM/ PennDOT standards and concrete testing methods - Required.
  • Mechanical aptitude - Required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Microsoft (Excel/Word)
  • Self-Motivated
  • Must be available to work varied shifts (days, nights, weekends).
  • Willingness to travel for extended periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor batching, mixing, and delivery operations to ensure adherence to project specifications and quality standards.
  • Perform various concrete/aggregate tests according to ACI and project specifications, including but not limited to slump tests, air content tests, compressive strength tests, gradations, and temperature monitoring.
  • Conduct routine inspections of raw materials and finished products to verify compliance with quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of test results and production data.
  • Monitor and calibrate equipment as needed
  • Identify and address any issues related to concrete quality or production processes promptly.
  • Work with the plant team to implement corrective actions and preventive measures.
  • Stay informed about new technologies and methodologies in concrete production and testing.
  • Ensure the practice of safety standards in accordance with company policies and OSHA.
  • Following instructions from supervisors.
  • Communication with supervisors, plant staff, field staff, and PennDOT inspection staff
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
