About The Position

The Concrete Lab Technician will ensure the concrete laboratory is operated and maintained in a manner consistent with Quikrete Cement’s Mission, Vision and Values, which uphold Environmental, Health & Safety Standards. The role involves performing concrete testing of MRC, shipping, competitive and CCRL samples, as well as conducting investigative tests for complaint resolution, competitive testing programs, product quality control in concrete, and product development. The technician will provide testing services for internal and external customers, assist in maintaining lab equipment, and maintain records in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, and laboratory procedures. Responsibilities also include reporting quality testing data, coordinating laboratory activities with the Technical Services Director and Engineer, reviewing non-conformances, ensuring QMS processes are established and maintained, participating in internal audits, supervising lab operators, and promoting awareness of customer requirements throughout the organization.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in concrete technology or a minimum of five years’ work experience in concrete or laboratory testing.
  • Experience with concrete laboratory testing standards and procedures.
  • ACI and DOT Certifications preferred.
  • Demonstrate the ability to take initiative based on sound problem solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented and able to follow written procedures.
  • Willing to learn various computer information systems.
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Flexible team player with strong inter-personal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure concrete laboratory is operated and maintained in accordance with Environmental, Health & Safety Standards.
  • Perform concrete testing of MRC, shipping, competitive and CCRL samples.
  • Conduct investigative tests for complaint resolution and product quality control.
  • Provide testing services for internal and external customers.
  • Assist in maintaining lab equipment and verifying calibrations.
  • Maintain records in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO and laboratory procedures.
  • Report quality testing data.
  • Coordinate laboratory activities with Technical Services Director and Engineer.
  • Review non-conformances created at the Concrete Laboratory.
  • Ensure QMS processes are established and maintained.
  • Participate in internal audits of the QMS.
  • Supervise lab operators and maintain QC equipment.
  • Promote awareness of customer requirements throughout the organization.
