About The Position

Silver Star Construction, a local road construction company- is seeking Concrete Finishers and Laborers to perform a wide range of duties that may change depending on the type of project they are working on and the team members they are working with.

Requirements

Knowledge of working with concrete
Practical skills to operate power tools and machinery
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans
Physical ability - concrete finishers and laborers, stand long periods of time, bend and crouch to perform their job duties, all of which require physical ability
Ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold
Ability to lift heavy materials and work long hours

Responsibilities

Placing forms that hold concrete to ensure the required depth and pitch is achieved
Removing edges on expansion joints and sides
Installing anchor bolts, steel plates and other fixtures in freshly poured concrete
Polishing surfaces using smoothing materials, abrasive tools and surfacing machines
Aligning forms for sidewalks, curbs and gutters
Waterproofing, damp-proofing and restoring concrete surfaces
Signaling truck drivers and moving chutes to facilitate pouring concrete onto forms
Casting and spreading concrete to patch voids
Applying hardening and sealing compounds to cure the surface of concrete
Pour, level and smooth concrete for surfaces such as roads, curbs, sidewalks
Operate concrete saw, curb and/or paving machine
Seal joints, set string line
