About The Position

Overall planning and management of estimating activities for specific construction projects, including preparation, interpretation and presentation of estimates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field; equivalent field experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in structural concrete estimating, field supervision, or project management.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret civil, structural, and architectural drawings.
  • Proficient in concrete quantity takeoffs, labor productivity analysis, and cost modeling.
  • Working knowledge of formwork systems, mix designs, reinforcement methods, and placement sequencing.
  • Familiarity with self-perform concrete operations and integration with GC schedules.
  • Experience using estimating and takeoff software such as Bluebeam Revu, On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, or HCSS HeavyBid.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Procore, and other estimating tools.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and structural concrete requirements to determine scope of work and applicable cost factors.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate quantity takeoffs for concrete materials, reinforcing steel, formwork, and embedded items.
  • Develop labor, equipment, and material cost estimates for a variety of concrete scopes, including foundations, slabs, structural walls, podium decks, and site concrete.
  • Coordinate and schedule subcontractor and supplier solicitations, ensuring complete coverage of concrete-related scopes.
  • Conduct job walks and site assessments to validate field conditions and ensure bid accuracy.
  • Prepare conceptual and schematic estimates for early design budgets and design-assist proposals.
  • Maintain and update unit price databases, productivity factors, and historical cost records.
  • Evaluate and compare competitive trade bids for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with project scope.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Operations teams to review preliminary estimates, buyouts, and value-engineering options.
  • Prepare bid forms, quote letters, and subcontractor bid lists, distributing drawings and addenda as needed.
  • Participate in bid compilation and final proposal submission on bid day.
  • Assist project teams post-award by providing clarifications, scope breakdowns, and budget tracking support.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with concrete material suppliers, rebar fabricators, and subcontractors.
  • Support and mentor junior estimating staff in concrete takeoff and cost analysis methods (if applicable).
  • Perform additional estimating-related duties as assigned to support project success.
