About The Position

The Pacific Terrace is seeking candidates with an upbeat attitude to go above and beyond guests' expectations. Individuals must have excellent customer service skills, be professional, and friendly with good written and verbal skills. Prior knowledge in computer is necessary and Opera experience is a plus. Flexible schedule is required. We're looking for a candidate who understands the true definition of hospitality and can provide AAA Four Diamond service to our guests. The Concierge's primary role is to serve as the guest's liaison for both hotel and non-hotel services, build good connections with guests that enhances their stay, and help ensure guests have a wonderful visit. The Concierge is also considered to be an extension of the Guest Services Agent. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of local businesses, entertainment venues and travel options.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent education required
  • Minimum 1-2 years of customer service experience in a hotel environment
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule (weekends, and holidays)
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis
  • Working knowledge of the Greater San Diego area; including but not limited to, restaurants, spas, hotels, attractions and up and coming events
  • Advanced skills in Word, Excel, Opera, and Outlook; daily use of nearly all programs will occur
  • Ability to communicate clearly and speak, read, write and understand English eloquently

Nice To Haves

  • Additional language skills are a plus
  • Opera experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-depth information and recommendations for San Diego restaurants and attractions.
  • Respond to a wide variety of questions and needs in person, on the phone, and over e-mail
  • Use problem-solving skills to assess and resolve issues
  • Build and maintain meaningful relationships while interacting confidently with people of diverse backgrounds
  • Utilize subtle, suggestive selling techniques to increase ticketing sales
  • Demonstrate ability to deal with different guests some of whom require a high level of patience and tact
  • Communicate internally with other departments such as Reservations, Room Service, Housekeeping, Bell Staff, and Valet to ensure that hotel services are coordinated to provide the best in guest satisfaction.
  • Plan and coordinate travel itineraries for clients, out-of-town guests and corporate employees consisting of hotel, meal and car reservations.
  • Act as a front desk agent and assist guests with the check-in/out process, when necessary.
  • Take on special duties and projects as required by management
  • Able to handle basic reservation duties
