About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Food & Beverage Manager, the Concession Shift Lead is responsible for the day-to-day food service operations at Centennial Grill. This includes staff supervision, food preparation and service, sanitization, money handling, and responding to customer inquiries.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of food sanitation standards and emergency procedures.
  • Capacity to make decisions objectively based on customer service and fiscal constraint.
  • Skill in the operation of food preparation and management.
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of readiness and preparedness in handling emergency situations.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in food operations, customer service, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possession of, or the ability to obtain, Illinois Food Handler's Certification within one (1) month of hire.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
  • Subject to modified/flexible work schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and/or move objects weighing ≤ 30 lbs on a daily Lifting assistance is required when lifting > 30 lbs.
  • Exposure to heat from appliances, smoke, steam, cleaning chemicals, food, and odors.
  • Prolonged lifting, stooping, bending, twisting, standing, and climbing.
  • Regular onsite attendance is an essential function of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide an exceptional customer service experience for visitors. Maintain a full knowledge of food and beverage items available for purchase.
  • Manages work of Centennial Grill staff, including planning, assigning, and reviewing work, ensuring quality standards. Is responsible for training, developing, reviewing performance, and administering performance improvement plans for staff.
  • Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen Maintain a safe, clean, and friendly environment for guests, co-workers, and the public.
  • Oversee daily operations of the Centennial Grill in the absence of the Food & Beverage Manager.
  • Work closely and communicate with the Food & Beverage Manager to ensure all concession operations are running smoothly.
  • Complete accurate inventory counts and enforce inventory controls including spot checks on product counts. Monitor inventory of supplies and equipment. Report needed items to the Food & Beverage Manager.
  • In the absence of a Concession Attendant or Grill Cook, take food and beverage orders from customers using the point-of-sale system . Prep and cook items as needed. Present customers with an accurate bill for their purchase, receive payment, and ensure proper cash and credit card handling. Ensure confidential use of customer information, including credit card transactions.
  • Successfully balance receipts, reconcile transactions, and prepare daily bank deposits.
  • Communicate computer issues to the Information Technology department, trouble shoot software, and inform the Food & Beverage Manager of any issues.
  • Respond to customer complaints or inquiries in a timely fashion and share the comments with the Food & Beverage Manager.
  • Demonstrate and support District customer service standards.
  • Assist in food preparation and the presentation of products.
  • Ability to address complaints and resolve concerns.
  • Other duties as assigned.
