About The Position

Seasonal position. May 1 - September 30, 2025 with potential to convert to off-season employment. This job is based in Portland, Oregon with travel across six western states. Please note: Due to the nature of this role and the industry, flexibility is required, along with the ability to travel in segments of up to 3 weeks as part of a 6-person team. Inspired by the Works Progress Administration's Federal Music Project during the Great Depression, IN A LANDSCAPE: Classical Music in the Wild is a summer concert series that celebrates classical music and the American West in experiences that are accessible to all. In 2025, IN A LANDSCAPE enters its 10th season bringing a 9-foot Steinway to national parks, state parks, private ranches, farms, and resorts across Oregon and the West. IN A LANDSCAPE is a registered Oregon non-profit with 501(c)(3) status.

Requirements

  • Current Oregon driver's license with clean driving record (to be verified upon job offer).
  • At least 2 years experience in working in Google Workspace.
  • Ability to learn new technologies used for registering concert attendees and selling concert tickets.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and ability to maintain composure while under pressure.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and the highest degree of ethics and integrity.
  • Exceptional written, oral communication, and organizational skills.
  • Enthusiasm and sense of humor.
  • Ability to give regular communications in person, writing, by email and by telephone.
  • Availability evenings and weekends for events and meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Bookkeeping: Manage system to collect information and payment for on-site registration.
  • Work with E.D. or assignee to finalize merchandise accounting procedures and forms prior to first concert.
  • Manage Point of Sale activities and verify for accuracy the recording of all merchandise sales after each concert.
  • Tally cash and credit card ticket sales and donations after each concert.
  • Deliver cash receipts to the Executive Director before leaving the concert site.
  • Post all cash, credit cards and checks collected during concert on pre-approved Google sheet.
  • Submit reports to E.D. for approval, then to home team no later than 11 am the day following each concert.
  • Assume responsibility for positive and smooth Front of House (FOH) operations through strike each concert.
  • Assist team with set up, as needed, of FOH canopy, tables, headphones.
  • Oversee breakdown of FOH canopy, tables, headphones, including plugging in and stowing of headphones.
  • Manage audience check-in process in supportive coordination with concert volunteers.
  • Prepare, review with E.D., and print a list of concert sponsors and other expected VIPs prior to each concert.
  • Prepare a written summary prior to each concert to include venue and partner logistics and concerns to review with E.D.
  • Diligently attend to audience and volunteer experience during, before, and after concert.
  • Work with IAL team to ensure that all equipment is properly stowed and charged between concerts.
  • Ensure First Aid kit is readily available at FOH and emergency procedures are documented and visible as coordinated with Site Manager.
  • Coordinate comment collection at each concert. Execute procedures for digitizing results, submit to database manager.
  • Manage, monitor, and safeguard merchandise inventory.
  • At each concert, set up and manage merchandise at the front of the house.
  • Record inventory before and after each concert.
  • Review 'Front of House Volunteer Procedure Handbook' with Site Manager.
  • Obtain volunteer assignment needs from lead volunteer and Site Manager.
  • Coordinate with Admin Manager to communicate, as needed, with Volunteers prior to each concert with assignments, directions, venue logistic information, time of arrival, and other concert details.
  • Verify stock of and distribute water and refreshments for volunteers as appropriate at each concert.
  • Communicate by phone with lead volunteer by 10 am each concert day or at mutually agreed-upon time.
  • Execute volunteer activities as directed by Site Manager.
  • Oversee that volunteer assignments are executed as directed by Site Manager.
  • Serve on daily driver rotation for IN A LANDSCAPE tour vehicles in shifts of up to four hours while driving from one concert site to the next.
  • In coordination with Admin Manager, research restaurants and grocery stores and communicate meal options with each team member for concert days.
  • Create and document best practices for all areas of responsibility in final draft prior to August 25, 2025.
  • Other duties as assigned to create a successful season.
