About The Position

We have multiple openings for our Computing Undergraduate Early Internship Program. This program is tailored for students who have graduated from high school in good academic standing and are planning to pursue an undergraduate degree at an accredited college or university in the fall of 2026. The program offers invaluable hands-on experience in practical research to support their educational and career goals. This internship is within the Computing Scholar Program. You will Provide technical and/or research support to projects in areas of computational science, numerical methods, mathematics, or other related fields, working with scientists, engineers, and technical staff members. Develop skills with tools such as Git, Bash, Python, and others relevant to the research area. Gather and analyze data and information in support of scientific research. Participate in research planning and evaluation discussion. Attend relevant seminars (at least one per week). Participate in end-of-summer poster presentation. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be eligible to access the Laboratory in compliance with Section 3112 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). See Additional Information section below for details.
  • High school graduate in good academic standing, pursuing an undergraduate degree in the fall of 2026 at an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Mathematics, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills.
  • Ability to present and communicate concepts and ideas.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Experience with overcoming adversity.
  • Age 18 or older at the start of the internship.
  • Must have GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Nice To Haves

  • Active participation in STEM-related clubs, organizations, or projects (e.g., robotics, coding, engineering, or science clubs) is highly valued.

Responsibilities
