Requirements

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
  • 1 year in tech service desk or IT troubleshooting
  • Excellent technical skills
  • Demonstrated competence in troubleshooting issues as they arise in a timely manner
  • Ability to work well with others and contribute to the team
  • Professionalism and courtesy in dealing with faculty, staff, and students
  • Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints must hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years in tech service desk or IT troubleshooting
  • Existing Windows management experience
  • Linux or Mac system knowledge
  • Storage technology background

Responsibilities

  • End-User Support & Troubleshooting Diagnose and resolve a wide range of end-user hardware, software, and connectivity issues using systematic troubleshooting techniques. Identify root causes, test potential solutions, document findings, and escalate complex problems when appropriate to ensure timely resolution and minimal disruption.
  • Systems, Server, Storage & Network Support Perform routine hardware and software maintenance to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security. Configure, deploy, and maintain Windows, macOS, and Linux desktop and server systems, including account setup, system imaging, security configuration, and approved software installation. Support the setup, monitoring, and basic administration of storage technologies, servers, and network infrastructure, including backups, user access management, system upgrades, and performance monitoring.
  • Equipment Installation & Physical Support Assist with the physical setup, relocation, installation, and occasional lifting of computer equipment such as desktops, laptops, monitors, printers, and networking devices while following established safety guidelines.
