About The Position

Powering Innovation Delivering Excellence Build the Future with MEPPIPosition Summary Develop new and improve existing computer vision CV models to achieve precision analytics for the Power I Substation Monitoring Platform Deploy CV models within the Power I platform through collaboration with the Power I team Mitsubishi Electric Power Products Incs MEPPI Power I team is at the forefront of industrial AI innovation where advanced computer vision technology converges with state of the art sensor platforms to redefine how critical infrastructure is inspected As a Computer Vision Engineer on the Power I team youll help build the technology behind the next generation of autonomous inspection systems across all critical infrastructure systems Youll develop and optimize state of the art models that detect classify and assess electrical assets and anomalies in real world conditions directly transforming multimodal data into actionable insights for our customers This is a hands on engineering role where your work directly strengthens the reliability and resilience of the electric grid Power I is backed by over 40 years of real world experience from MEPPI in providing solutions to the electrical utility industry If youre excited by the challenge of taking computer vision from the lab to the field Power I is where your code becomes infrastructure At MEPPI we are engineering the infrastructure of the future

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related discipline with a minimum of 3 years of experience in computer vision machine learning andor image processing or equivalent education and experience
  • Advanced software engineering skills and experience with Python programming
  • Advanced knowledge of deep learning including semantic segmentation and object detection
  • Ability to learn adapt and utilize new technology related to the Power I Substation Monitoring Platform
  • Advanced interpersonal communications and presentation skills
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills
  • Advanced computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office products to prepare reports analysis and schedules

Responsibilities

  • Develop calibrate validate and maintain scalable computer vision algorithms to extract intelligence from image based data
  • Iterate and incorporate new algorithms to continuously improve product performance under a variety of conditions
  • Identify optimal analytical methods and solutions for algorithm development
  • Provide insight and recommendations for the Power I architecture design based on information obtained from machine learning algorithms advanced mathematical models and business expertise
  • Create data pipelines to add structure to the resultant data extracted from images and work to integrate the data into other algorithms and visualization tools and platforms
  • Provide technical expertise in building an analytics driven product pipeline
  • Assess needs and recommend experiments and projects suggest new algorithmic development and drive tactical decisions about approaches and data requirements
  • Collaborate with end user and product owners to understand computer vision needs
  • Design and implement methodologies for testing and accuracy assessment
  • Provide production support for computer vision components
  • Further the goals and positive professional image of the Division through effective dealings with customers stakeholders and other MEPPI divisions
