About The Position

The position is for a CT Technologist at Advocate Christ Medical Center, which is a full-time role requiring 36 hours per week. The schedule includes a weekend rotation with 3 shifts of 12 hours each from 7 PM to 7:30 AM. A sign-on bonus of $10,000 is offered, along with holiday call pay. The role involves performing CT scans and reformations according to established clinical protocols, guidelines, and department operating procedures. The technologist will be responsible for positioning patients correctly, performing optimal scans, and ensuring the lowest amount of radiation is used to obtain diagnostic scans. The position also requires the technologist to operate support equipment, initiate IVs for contrast media, and maintain patient safety and documentation.

Requirements

  • 3 years of general radiology experience.
  • ARRT registry and IEMA license.
  • CPR certification within 3 months of hire.
  • Basic knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and basic CT procedures.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer competency.
  • IV certification within 3 months of hire.
  • Must pass advanced CT certification within 1 year of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in CT or CT advanced certification within 1 year of hire.
  • Prior experience with various age groups of patients.

Responsibilities

  • Perform CT scans and reformations according to established clinical protocols.
  • Position patients correctly using proper immobilization techniques.
  • Perform optimal scans using correct technical factors based on patient diagnosis and history.
  • Use correct technical factors to minimize radiation exposure.
  • Perform CT angiography, 3D reconstruction, and post-processing of data.
  • Follow correct CT Department Technologist workflow.
  • Operate support equipment for CT such as independent workstations and pressure injectors.
  • Initiate IV for administration of contrast media and recognize adverse reactions.
  • Prepare patients for exams by explaining procedures and answering questions.
  • Transport patients to and from departments when necessary.
  • Work with radiologists to tailor protocols to meet patient exam requirements.
  • Document patient history and ensure appropriateness of exams and contrast media.
  • Maintain inventory levels of supplies and assist in scheduling exams.
  • Comply with established safety standards and maintain documentation of equipment malfunctions.
  • Coordinate scheduling of inpatients, outpatients, and ER patients.
  • Keep abreast of current CT procedures and share information with staff.
  • Maintain state licensure, certifications, and CPR card.
  • Maintain good relations with internal and external customers.
