The Computer Technician position at Elgin ISD Administration involves performing on-site technical work to install and maintain computer equipment, network systems, and software applications throughout the district or at assigned campuses. The technician will respond to work order requests by diagnosing and repairing network and computer hardware issues. This role is crucial for ensuring that all technology-related equipment is functioning optimally to support educational activities. The technician will be responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and upgrading computers and peripherals, as well as network cabling and peripherals across the district. This includes relocating computer hardware and providing technical assistance to users of computers and instructional equipment. The technician will also assist with the installation and maintenance of application and operating system software, as well as troubleshooting and repairing data communications circuits and equipment. In addition to technical support, the technician will be tasked with diagnosing and repairing network connectivity and hardware issues, maintaining accurate records of preventive maintenance, and managing the inventory of hardware and software. The role requires compliance with federal and state laws, as well as district policies, and may involve responding to after-hours emergencies as needed. The position does not have supervisory responsibilities, but it plays a vital role in maintaining the technological infrastructure of the district.
