Computer Technician - Retail Services (TEMPORARY) This position provides frontline technical support to customers with technology-related questions and concerns. The role includes diagnosing issues, performing hardware repairs, managing data recovery, and delivering software-based services for both Apple and PC devices. The technician will work hands-on with Macs, iOS devices, PCs, storage devices, and related technologies to ensure high-quality customer service and reliable technical solutions. Note: This is a part-time position (17.5) hours per week.

Requirements

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
  • Background in computers, including understanding of both internal and external computer operations
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to work hands-on with electronic devices

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with Apple products (macOS, iOS)
  • Experience repairing PC hardware and peripherals
  • Familiarity with data recovery tools or processes

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with technology-based questions and concerns
  • Perform repairs on computer hardware, including Apple and PC devices
  • Manage and support data recovery efforts for customer devices and storage media
  • Perform software-based services such as operating system reinstalls, virus removal, and basic troubleshooting
