About The Position

Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a Computer System Analyst to support a major national laboratory. The Computer System Analyst is responsible for the health, efficiency, and integration of the organization's computing ecosystem. This role focuses on optimizing the performance of Windows-based workstations and the expanding IoT (Internet of Things) infrastructure. You will act as a project-oriented analyst, identifying ways to automate data collection from edge devices and improving the end-user experience through better system design and proactive hardware management. Ideal candidates will also have some networking expertise, including but not limited to a solid understanding of the OSI model and hands-on experience with cabling/switching.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in relevant discipline plus minimum 2 years or more years of directly related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job.
  • Must have an active DOE Security Clearance
  • Must be US Citizen
  • Must be located in the Albuquerque, NM metro area as this position is onsite.
  • Knowledge and experience of Windows desktop support, including build, install, configure, patch, remediate and troubleshoot Windows machines, peripherals and other computing devices connected.
  • Knowledge and experience with both physical and virtual Windows desktops.
  • Knowledge and experience with both Internet of Things (IOT) and operational technology (OT) devices.
  • Knowledge and experience with non-standard devices and technology environments (i.e. SCADA, PLCs, Siemens, Raspberry Pi, etc.).
  • Ability to provide customer support by phone, messaging, email, and in-person.
  • Ability to work with suppliers and technology vendors.
  • User application support.
  • Willingness to work on obsolete, non-standard, and standalone equipment.
  • Linux desktop knowledge.
  • Application layer knowledge.
  • Networking knowledge.
  • Cybersecurity and Zero-Trust environment knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and optimization of Windows-based workstations and IoT devices, ensuring they are tailored to specific departmental workflows.
  • Coordinate the deployment and connectivity of IoT devices (e.g., smart badges, facility sensors, connected tablets), ensuring they successfully join the network and transmit data as intended.
  • Assist in the configuration and monitoring of switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Troubleshoot basic connectivity issues involving TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues affecting hardware, operating systems (both Windows and Linux based), or applications.
  • In person and remote customer service interactions which will be documented in our ticketing system but not limited to customer intake, monitoring ticket queue, and documenting troubleshooting steps taken.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot secure remote access solutions, including VPN client configuration and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
  • Assist with user accounts, permissions, and security groups within Active Directory (Windows).
  • Develop and refine automated deployment scripts (PowerShell) for both Windows applications and IoT configuration profiles to ensure consistency.
  • Other duties as needed and assigned.
