About the position

Jones Edmunds is seeking a Computer Support Specialist to join our Information Technology team. The Computer Support Specialist will facilitate the timely resolution of helpdesk requests related to computer hardware and/or software installation, configuration, upgrades, and repair; assist employees in using applications and systems (e.g., Deltek, FTP, Microsoft Office); set up new equipment; receive equipment deliveries; manage the Company’s cellular devices; guide the support efforts of the video teleconferencing equipment; and assist in backing up the file server data.

Responsibilities

  • Possess sufficient computer hardware and software operating system product knowledge and technical skills necessary to independently set up, maintain, and update hardware, software, and peripherals on desktop computers, laptops, printers, and other related equipment.
  • Configure the PBX for new employees including PBX moves and changes.
  • Assist in diagnosing and resolving local software problems.
  • Assist with hardware receipt inspection, RMA tracking, and inventory control.
  • Provide support to ensure the daily backup of Company file servers.
  • Perform initial user Windows domain account setup and regulate and monitor file access to ensure confidentiality and proper use.
  • Accurately record the distribution of mobile devices supplied to employees when the Mobile Device Manager and Hardware Support Specialist is not available.
  • Provide updates reflecting the Company’s use of consumables to the associated vendors and the Accounting Department.
  • Train and work with employees to provide new user orientation on basic computer functionality.
  • Troubleshoot local area network issues quickly by identifying the sources of problems.
  • Travel to other offices to support installations, upgrades, and migrations.
  • Promote and deliver exceptional customer service for desktops and laptops.
  • Follow established guidelines in delivering IT solutions and contribute to the continuing evolution of those best practices.
  • Understand and adhere to all security policies and procedures relating to systems, data, and physical protection and safety.
  • Confer with staff and management to recommend requirements for new systems or modifications to existing systems.
  • Develop, update, and disseminate training materials and procedures via the Helpdesk Wiki site and other documents.
  • Assist in implementing network security tasks to help ensure the integrity and confidentiality of Company information.

Requirements

  • Education: HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: 3+ years of related experience
  • Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable MVR

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification: Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA), Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS), Microsoft Office Specialist Expert (MSO), A+, Network +, or at least one similar certification preferred
