About the position
The Computer Support Specialist I role at the City of Sarasota involves providing technical assistance and support to both internal and external customers. This position focuses on the installation, deployment, and utilization of computer systems and related technology, ensuring effective operation and user satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical hardware and software support to end users.
- Install and maintain PC hardware and software.
- Support VOIP telephones, wireless systems, network security, and backup techniques.
- Utilize various communication methods (RDP, Dameware, SSH, Telnet, etc.) to assist users.
- Provide solutions to end user questions regarding hardware and software applications.
- Administer various software platforms (Exchange, SharePoint, SQL, Active Directory, etc.).
- Assemble computer components including CPU, RAM, and motherboards.
- Maintain image standards and hardware upkeep as needed.
- Install and configure computer software and peripherals.
- Monitor hardware and software utilization and maintain inventory.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Two years of relevant experience in computer support or equivalent education and training.
- CompTIA A+ certification required within 6 months.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Office 365.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
