About The Position

OUC – The Reliable One, an industry leader and the second-largest municipal utility in Florida, is offering an internship program in the Digital & Technology division. The OUC Internship Program is dedicated to providing students with real-world, hands-on experience by partnering with energy leaders and experienced professionals, while bringing new and out-of-the-box perspectives and ideas that are essential for fostering the creativity and growth of any business. OUC’s internship program provides emerging talent with an immersive view of the utility industry through on-the-job training, educational sessions, self-paced learning courses, and individual or team projects. We are looking for a Computer Specialist Intern. During this internship, you will partner with the Desktop & Client Operations team.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university
  • Academic status of Sophomore or above.
  • Program of study: Computer Science, Information System & Technology
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above at the time of application.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of computer hardware, software, and IT equipment
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Familiarity with endpoint management tools and basic equipment salvage procedures
  • Understanding of public safety and security concepts and best practices
  • Experience with common software applications (Microsoft 365, Citrix, Remote Desktop, Visio)
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow, Jira, or FootPrints
  • Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and proactive; able to work independently.
  • Ability to prioritize and resolve issues under deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Proven ability to learn new skills quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Providing local and remote desktop support, responding to service requests, and resolving assigned tickets through applicable ticketing systems
  • Deploying, re-imaging, repairing, and upgrading computer hardware, operating systems, and supporting server environments
  • Troubleshooting network and wireless connectivity issues and assisting with general IT infrastructure support
  • Assisting with security-related tasks, including virus/malware research, vulnerability reviews, account deactivation, and Active Directory updates
  • Supporting positive client relationship management by delivering timely, effective technical solutions and performing other assigned duties
