The Computer Software/Programming Specialist at Northwest Missouri State University serves as the primary technology and programming contact for the Learning & Teaching Center. This role involves collaborating with the center's director and staff to develop and maintain various projects and programs that enhance learning and teaching initiatives. The specialist is also responsible for the maintenance of hardware, software, and servers, as well as supervising student staff.

  • Manage and maintain servers, computers, and various software and applications.
  • Oversee and assist with the design and development of programming projects including LTIs used within Northwest Online (Canvas).
  • Oversee the maintenance of programming projects for the university community currently in use.
  • Manage and maintain databases.
  • Oversee student staff and initiatives.
  • Assist with support and training of faculty for Northwest Online (Canvas).
  • Assist with support and training of faculty in resource software such as Lockdown Browser, Turnitin, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.
  • Manage and maintain approximately 60 Attendance Tracking System Kiosks across campus and the application.
  • Develop and present professional development presentations for faculty and staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Experience in managing and maintaining servers and databases.
  • Proficiency in programming and software development.
  • Experience with learning management systems, particularly Canvas.
  • Ability to train and support faculty in technology use.
  • Experience with educational technology tools and applications.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies.
