Founded in 2004, HX5 is a fast-growing veteran- and woman-owned company with locations nationwide. The Test Facilities Operation, and Engineering (TFOME III) Team, which includes Troy7, Sierra Lobo, HX5, Amentum & MSM, is currently seeking a Computer Science Engineering Intern to join our team in Brook Park, Ohio at NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC). The role may be assigned to HX5 or one of the other teammate companies. The TFOME team at the NASA Glenn Research Center provides engineering and technical services in the aeronautics, space power, and propulsion test facilities. Responsibilities: The Computer Science Engineer Intern will work with Senior Engineers in the planning, design, and technical execution of computer engineering/technical tasks of a wide variety of systems including, test related apparatus, and specialty hardware for an assigned test or facility project at a research test facility. Duties and responsibilities may include but not limited to: Work alongside NASA and TFOME/contractor system developers and programmers to integrate NASA-specific requirements into a commercial data acquisition system. May develop and analyze electrical system requirements to match system capabilities with test requirements. Prepare documentation, specifications, and purchase requisitions for electrical hardware/software specifications for electronic/electrical equipment supporting facility development efforts. Evaluate vendor proposals and provides technical recommendations for procurement. Program, setup, maintain, and troubleshoot PC/Unix based systems, data acquisition systems, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). Integrate controls and instrumentation into PLC hardware and software. Design and specification of instrumentation, signal conditioning equipment, and integration with data acquisition systems. Develop and update schematics, drawings, calibration documentation, technical procedures, and quality control (ISO 9001) documentation. Design and maintain communication networks running over TCP/IP.

Requirements

Must be working in and completed a minimum of 2 years curriculum towards a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
General knowledge/experience of one or more aspects related to Electrical, Electronic, Data Systems or Computer Engineering are highly desirable.
Familiarity with MS Office products is a must.
Proficiency in developing, testing, and debugging desktop applications and system services.
Knowledgeable in Client/Server Software Development.
Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to quickly integrate into a team environment.
Must be a US Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of C++/Qt, Object Oriented programming concepts, SOLID principles and developing Graphical User Interfaces is a plus.
Knowledge of Graphical User Interface development and data acquisition system techniques is a plus.
Experience with Linux and complex system architectures is a plus.
