About The Position

Brightpoint Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education and is the third largest of Virginia's 23 community colleges. The college is located within the Greater Richmond metropolitan area. It serves students and the community at its two campuses, in Chester and Midlothian; online; and in locations throughout its service area. General Information: Adjunct faculty teaching is limited to a maximum of 8 credit hours in the summer semester, 12 credit hours in the fall semester, and 12 credit hours in the spring semester. These limits are for total number of credit hours taught in the Virginia's Community Colleges (VCCS). Additional restrictions may apply depending upon other positions occupied within VCCS.

Requirements

• Minimum of a Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours of coursework in Computer Science.
• Work experience in the subject matter.
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.

Nice To Haves

• Prior teaching experience at the postsecondary level.
• Ability to use instructional technologies.
• Willingness to adopt new and emerging technologies.
• Demonstrated experience in meeting the needs of and providing instruction to diverse populations.
• Prior community college teaching experience.
• Experience in teaching a full range of Computer Science.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction for day and evening classes by traditional delivery on the Midlothian campus of the college.
• Teach online synchronous methods or online asynchronous methods.
• Instruct courses including Introduction to Computer Science, Computer Science I, Computer Science II, Computer Organization, and Discrete Structures.
