About The Position

The Gaming Computer Repair Technician at Springfield PC PROS is responsible for diagnosing and repairing desktop, gaming, and custom computers. This role involves direct customer interaction, providing technical support, and ensuring customer satisfaction through effective communication and problem-solving. The technician will handle everything from hardware upgrades to software troubleshooting, while also creating and managing repair tickets.

Requirements

  • Sound knowledge of desktop, laptop, and custom/gaming computer hardware and software, including Advanced BIOS options and configurations.
  • Familiarity with various Windows operating systems (Win10/11).
  • Proficiency in using benchmarking and stress testing software to diagnose hardware failures, the ability to interpret test results, and replace components as needed to implement effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting software problems and performing operating system installations.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • A strong commitment to customer service and satisfaction.
  • CompTIA A+ certification or at least 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Micro-soldering skills (HDMI ports, microscope work) - This is a BIG plus.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple repairs simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with micro-soldering, particularly on HDMI ports or similar components.
  • Knowledge of power supply selection in gaming rigs and wattage calculations.
  • Experience optimizing BIOS settings for gaming performance.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair Desktop, Gaming and Custom computers and related hardware components.
  • Perform hardware upgrades, installations, and custom builds.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues involving software, hardware, networking, and operating systems.
  • Interact with customers directly throughout the entire repair process, ensuring timely and clear communication about repair statuses and technical details.
  • Demonstrate outstanding customer service skills by translating tech speak into easy-to-understand everyday language that our customers can understand.
  • Create, update, and close repair tickets with comprehensive notes and documentation of the repair process to ensure accurate records.
  • Answer phone calls and assist customers with questions, quotes, and troubleshooting while maintaining a positive and upbeat attitude.
  • Consult with customers to understand their needs and provide professional recommendations on upgrades, performance enhancements, and potential future improvements for their systems.
  • Offer a friendly, professional, and engaging experience for each customer, making them feel valued from the moment they walk in the door.
  • Stay updated with the latest in computer technology, gaming trends, and repair techniques.
  • Collaborate with other team members to solve challenging technical problems and exceed customer expectations.
