Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
  • Minimum of 6–8 years of experience in web development or programming.
  • Experience working with WCMS platforms and federal web standards.
  • Experience supporting accessibility compliance (Section 508)
  • Strong programming and web system management skills.
  • Knowledge of accessibility and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience analyzing web metrics and performance data.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining, updating, and enhancing the Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion (DHQP) internet websites and related digital content.
  • Proficiency in ensuring compliance with web accessibility standards (HHS 508) and best practices for web design and user experience.
  • Experience with web analytics tools and the ability to interpret data to inform web strategies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Program new features and update existing content on DHQP internet and intranet websites using the Web Content Management System (WCMS), ensuring adherence to CDC web policies and standards.
  • Document all procedures to facilitate future updates and ensure quality assurance (QA) and publishing processes are followed.
  • Ensure all programming follows CDC web policy including specific web standards and guidance developed by OC, the CDC Web Council, and NCEZID web team.
  • Ensure all webpages, PDFs, and videos comply with HHS Section 508 accessibility standards; perform remediation as necessary.
  • Optimize images and graphics for web use, ensuring compliance with accessibility guidelines.
  • Caption short videos and coordinate their posting on CDC’s YouTube channel.
  • Implement syndication coding requests and corrections.
  • Utilize SharePoint for workflow and task management, including tracking web requests and managing the Division’s SharePoint site for enterprise communications.
  • Participate in team meetings, providing updates and summaries to relevant team members.
  • Manage requests for stock photos.
  • Generate and analyze web metrics using tools similar to Adobe Analytics and Google Analytics via the internal DMAT platform, providing data-informed recommendations for improving search engine optimization (SEO) and information architecture.
  • Maintain campaign tracking codes and RSS feeds, ensuring robust tracking of web performance.
  • Conduct QA reviews of web content before final approval and posting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal processes.
  • Run broken link reports on multiple websites monthly, researching and correcting any identified issues.
  • Upload new files in the DFE using the established file structure and naming convention.
  • Maintain the web archive/backup for the division’s web content.
  • Maintain a secure FTP site for the division.
  • Assist with Adobe Campaign subscription topics, formatting and disseminating messages, and generating routine metrics and reports.
  • Provide expertise in the design and layout of email newsletters and bulletins within the Adobe Campaign platform.
  • Proactively identify, research, and resolve web-related issues; participate in team strategy sessions to discuss solutions and recommend updated strategies to improve web procedures and operations.
