The opportunity We currently have an opportunity for a Computer Operator Specialist to join our IT team based on-site in our Needham, MA office. This role provides 24x7 on-call support for monitoring multi-platform systems, managing production schedules and ensuring operational continuity. It involves responding to system disruptions, executing emergency protocols, and collaborating across teams to troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues. This role also includes installing and validating infrastructure components such as memory, fiber cards, hard drives, fans, and SAN/network connections.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of related experience.
  • Excellent communication skills and acute attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Knowledge of Control-M, scripting concepts (Argent Sentinel, mabl), EcoStruxuware IT Data Center, KVM.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree in IT or related field preferred.
  • Azure Cloud experience helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage job scheduling, execution, and performance.
  • Investigate job failures, document findings, and resolve issues using available tools.
  • Process requests for job creation, deactivation, and changes across platforms with high accuracy including calendar creation, job restarts, and abend recovery.
  • Monitor and maintain automated scripts to test and verify the availability of web-based applications using company provided tools.
  • Monitor and respond to alerts to remote UPS systems.
  • Complete daily shift turnover and checklists associated with tasks.
  • Ensure all operations related procedures and processes are properly documented and maintained.
  • Manage the configuration, activation, monitoring, and maintenance of both local and remote security camera systems, including timely response to alerts.
  • Ensure Data Center software remains up to date with current release versions.
  • Contribute to multiple projects as team member or lead, delivering enhancements, production support and project deliverables.
  • Provides or coordinates support for hardware, software and environmental systems during and outside of regular business hours, including holidays and weekends as needed.
