About The Position

Range support services computer operators provide preventive and remedial maintenance, repair, modification, fabrication, installation, diagnostic troubleshooting, and operations support of all equipment used for audio and video services and products associated with the DATR Video Control Center (VCC) and Long Range Optics systems (LROs). Requirements include the capability to provide quality audio and video coverage and to produce live television coverage of experimental aircraft flight tests, and other special events. Essential Functions: Operate and maintain all equipment assigned to the Audio/Video Department. Configure and calibrate video systems for mission support utilizing a preflight procedure, Recognize, troubleshoot and repair any anomaly. Perform preventive/corrective maintenance on VCC computer systems Utilize PC based peripheral systems in daily performance of job requirements. Maintain procedures, records, logs, mission/system databases, and adhere to the configuration control processes. Assist in the development and checkout of applications software and acceptance testing of new system releases. Utilize electronic test equipment (waveform monitor, vector scope, oscilloscope, multi meters and signal generators) with minimal direction. Evaluate, calibrate, adjust, and troubleshoot a wide range of broadcast equipment with minimal direction. Interface with customers and other operations personnel in a professional manner. Maintain, and provide to NASA upon request, documentation on all projects and systems supported to include a complete audit trail for every change made to the application or system software. Other Related Duties: Assist with housekeeping, periodic and corrective maintenance. Develop or assist in the development of training programs, processes, procedures, flowcharts, and block diagrams. Organize and track government property/spare parts inventory. May be required to support safety, hazmat (MSDS) and equipment calibration management. Operate government vehicles. Complete instructor-led and online training. Troubleshoot and repair IT equipment. Troubleshoot networks, switches and routers. Perform other related duties as required. Core Competencies: Knowledge of: Operate and maintain video/audio systems, HD cameras, DVR's, and related equipment. Capable of reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and system drawings. Electronic calibration equipment such as and not limited to, oscilloscope, TDR's, multi-meters and television specific equipment such as wave form monitors, vector scopes and TV signal generator. Audio/video routers (HD/4K/Data/Audio). Computer/Video networks and disk-based storage, streaming video. Digital television theory including MPEG 2, MPEG 4/H.264, HEVC/H.265, and JPEG compression schemes. Ability to: Communicate effectively and professionally in both oral and written form, develop documentation and test procedures, establish and maintain successful work relationships with those contacted in the performance of this position, interface with vendors, work under deadlines, effectively use word processing and spreadsheet programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel, perform work in an ISO compliant/certified environment.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or higher in electronics, information technology or a closely related field or completion of formal training in an accredited commercial or military electronics school.
  • At least 1 year of related experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Computer system literacy.
  • Ability to effectively use desktop Microsoft applications such as; Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio and Outlook.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend the English language.
  • Ability to successfully obtain and maintain a USAF level III Flightline Driver's License.
  • Must have a valid state driver's license.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a USAF Flight line Driver's License level 3
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance within one year of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical familiarity with the equipment operated and maintained at the DATR or similar equipment is desired.
