About The Position

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Computer Operator II to join our team! In this role you shall operate Remote Computer Stations in support of automated ranges based upon unit scheduling. Operates and monitor computer systems, servers, and networks to ensure efficient performance. Key responsibilities include running scheduled jobs, performing data backups, troubleshooting hardware/software malfunctions, and maintaining peripheral equipment. Ensure system security, log errors, and provide technical support. Performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in such trades as electronics and electrical work. Work involves a variety of the following duties: replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, batteries, solar panels, electrical circuit boards, and automated target systems. Operates gas powered equipment such as string trimmers, blowers, mowers, and related gas-powered range maintenance equipment in and around the range operations complex areas (e.g., firing line, range tower, bleachers, classrooms, covered mess, ammunition supply point, and latrines).

Requirements

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) years of progressive experience in computer systems operations.
  • One (1) year of practical experience in data entry and formatting via common productivity tools such as the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Note: Experience may be concurrent.
  • Proficiency in operating various computer systems and peripherals.
  • Knowledge of computer report preparation and batch job processing.
  • Understanding of system and database backups.
  • Ability to run batch programs according to established guidelines.
  • Ability to identify and resolve system and equipment malfunctions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work under moderate supervision.
  • Proof of US Citizenship required.
  • Must be able to obtain a valid driver’s license, maintain Installation driving privileges and complete a Defensive Driving Course.
  • Must be able to pass all security requirements IAW military installation Provost Marshall’s Policy in order to gain access to the installation.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor computer systems and peripheral equipment.
  • Perform routine tasks to maintain equipment performance standards.
  • Observe error messages and identify faulty output or machine stoppages.
  • Initiate system recoveries and similar procedures.
  • Perform data processing operations according to a business production schedule.
  • Perform backup procedures to reduce data loss.
  • Maintain computer equipment and inventory.
  • Manage processing logs and run procedure manuals.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system software, hardware, and network issues.
  • Answer questions and troubleshoot problems for users.
  • Notify maintenance personnel of system malfunctions.
