SAIC is seeking a highly motivated Computer - Hardware Engineer to support the Weapons Systems Development Division in developing and maintaining unique solutions in ordnance, weapons systems, unmanned and autonomous, and related systems for the Asymmetric Warfare Branch at Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane, IN. This opportunity provides you with room to bring current skill and expertise, then leverage the opportunity to develop and achieve success. Collaborating with other professionals to solve challenging problems and participate in the development, prototyping, testing, and fielding of sound solutions for the nation's security and supporting our frontline warfighters. The selected individual will operate in the capacity of service responsible for assisting the government customer team in contributing to various projects and tasks. All while having the opportunity to build and maintain strategic relationships with various customers, sponsors, and related industry partners.

  • Support customers and sponsoring organizations in conceptual design, documentation, prototyping, fabrication/assembly, integration, test, fielding and related support of unmanned and autonomous solutions.
  • Continuously ensuring deliverable components and systems are accurately prepared and documented for customers' mission success.
  • Conduct research, design, development, and testing of information processing hardware such as computer chips, circuit boards, computer systems, and electrical components.
  • Participate in conceptualizing ideas, drafting proposals, developing mature designs, presenting them in formal review presentations, and conducting related engineering tasks.
  • Research and develop hardware designs, firmware, software flowcharts, create bills of materials, schematics, complete PCB layouts, ordnance systems, autonomous systems, and embedded systems to a production-ready level.
  • Participate in validation, functional, and environmental tests, troubleshoot software and communication using network diagnostic tools, and evaluate system integrity with oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Zero (0) years or more of related experience.
  • Strong attention to detail, with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-Starter capable of contributing both individually and with others in a collaborative team.
  • Basic Knowledge of reading and understanding complex electrical schematics.
  • Knowledge of complex mesh networks, advanced networks, wireless and radio (RF) technology, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition.
  • Ability to meet physical health, personal responsibility, and safety requirements to obtain and maintain an explosive certification.
  • Proficient with computers and experience with Microsoft suite of software tools (Outlook, Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Interim secret clearance is required to start with the ability to obtain a secret clearance.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Experience in ordnance system development and/or energetic physics and testing.
  • Experience with unmanned systems development and autonomous systems.
  • Experience with safety critical software concepts, higher level programming languages, microcontroller programming (C/C++), embedded Linux systems, computer networks, User Experience (UX) and/or Graphical User Interface (GUI) design.
  • Knowledge of or experience with embedded systems including firmware architecture, initial development, testing and debugging, and maturing codebases to a production-ready level.
