About The Position

The Arizona Department of Public Safety is looking for an experienced professional to serve as a Computer Forensics Analyst. Under general supervision is responsible for performing forensic examination and evaluation of computer hardware, software, electronically stored data and other computer related evidentiary materials to assist with investigations of criminal activity. Performs related duties as assigned. This is a competitive classification. This recruitment will be used to establish an 18-month eligibility list to fill current and future vacancies over the life of the list. Apply right away; recruitment may close without notice. restoring deleted files and accessing secured data.
recognizing evidence of criminal activity.

Requires a high school diploma or GED and three (3) years of experience in computer forensics and/or computer operations, computer programming, computer systems analysis, criminal investigations, intelligence analysis, or closely related experience.
Certification and/or training directly related to the field of computer forensics may substitute for years of experience on a case by case basis.
Must be able to obtain a valid State of Arizona driver license
Must successfully complete the examination process.
Progression to the next step requires an overall performance rating of at least "Standard" in the last 12 months.

Responsibilities

Conducts forensic examination of electronic evidence, including computer-related equipment, network devices, and information systems.
Physically disassembles and examines computers and related hardware.
Uses forensic software applications to analyze electronic media.
Examines and analyzes magnetic and optical media.
Collects, transports, labels, and secures evidence from crime scenes and/or during forensic processing.
Work with investigators and prosecutors to assist in the preparation of search warrants, investigative information, and cases for court purposes.
Prepare written report of forensic examination findings to include procedures used and evidence located.
Testify in local, state, county and federal courts as an expert witness.
Provide investigative and technical assistance to law enforcement agencies.
Research legal issues and case law as it relates to computer forensics.
Prepares and presents a variety of training programs.
