About The Position

This position is within the Aviation Research Division, which seeks to develop scientific solutions to current and future air transportation challenges by conducting applied research and development in collaboration with industry, academia, and government.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform multiple, varying and complex assignments under minimal direction.
• Act as principal technical specialist or project manager for large work activities.
• Apply analytical methods to solve problems and optimize data use.
• Develop and apply analytical approaches to support data-driven policy and operational decisions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business requirements and expected outcomes.
• Integrate data from varying sources for analysis.
• Conduct analyses using programming or statistical software (e.g., R, Python).
• Participate in research, development, and testing of hardware/software impacting the NAS.
• Build software tools as part of research, engineering, and development activities.
• Communicate findings to policymakers and non-technical audiences.
• Facilitate and lead cross-organizational teams to apply software and advanced data science techniques.
• Define, organize, and assign resources to accomplish organizational objectives.
• Represent FAA as a senior technical point of contact on projects and programs.
• Draft, review, and edit reports or contractual documents for final approval.
