About The Position

The Computer Assistant position at the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center is responsible for overseeing various software programs that support the administration and operations of medical services. This role involves ensuring the implementation of new information technology systems, providing training and troubleshooting support to clinical and administrative staff, and maintaining software applications to meet functional requirements.

Requirements

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-06 level in the normal line of progression for the occupation.
• Experience with medical/clinical programs such as VistA, CPRS, and ACRP.
• Ability to provide accurate information to hospital personnel and conduct basic troubleshooting.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Citrix Access Gateway (CAG) and similar programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight for software programs integral to medical service operations.
• Collect physical and data security needs for service areas.
• Act as the point of contact for information technology initiatives regarding hardware and software needs.
• Control critical applications such as Clinical Procedures, Home Oxygen, and Oncology/OncoTrax.
• Review software upgrades for medical service programs within VISTA.
• Provide training and troubleshooting for clinical and administrative staff on software programs and upgrades.
• Coordinate and train service staff in clinical and functional areas for various information technology VISTA packages.
• Test, debug, and maintain software applications to meet functional requirements.
• Train employees and discuss software capabilities with management.
