This position is pending award of contract This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program. The person in this position will represent International SOS Government Medical Services, Inc. and provide services outlined below:The Computed Tomography Technologist provides on-site computed tomography imaging services to Veterans under the Veterans Health Administration Integrated Critical Staffing Program. The role operates computed tomography imaging equipment to produce diagnostic-quality images in accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs policies, the Performance Work Statement, Joint Commission standards, and applicable federal regulations. The position ensures patient safety, image quality, infection control, radiation safety, and accurate documentation within the Veterans Affairs Electronic Health Record. Perform computed tomography examinations under the general supervision of a Veterans Affairs Radiologist, producing diagnostic-quality images consistent with physician orders, established protocols, and Department of Veterans Affairs standards. Verify patient identity using approved identifiers; explain procedures; confirm preparation requirements; secure patient cooperation; and ensure patient comfort, safety, and modesty. Select appropriate examination protocols, accurately position patients, utilize immobilization devices when indicated, and ensure proper image display for radiologist interpretation. Operate ionizing radiation equipment safely in accordance with the principle of As Low As Reasonably Achievable; minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff; and maintain awareness of cumulative dose considerations as required. Prepare computed tomography rooms with required sterile supplies and materials; follow Department of Veterans Affairs, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and facility-specific infection control standards; clean rooms and restock supplies at the end of each shift. Evaluate images for completeness and diagnostic quality; annotate, label, and archive studies in the Picture Archiving and Communication System; and notify the Radiologist of significant findings requiring immediate attention. Prepare equipment and supplies for examinations; monitor patients during procedures; recognize adverse reactions; and initiate emergency response and notification when required. Accurately document examinations, patient care, and outcomes in the Veterans Affairs Electronic Health Record prior to the end of each shift, in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, the Privacy Act, and Department of Veterans Affairs records policies. Participate in rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends, federal holidays, and on-call coverage as required; meet established response and on-site arrival time requirements. Complete quality assurance and quality improvement documentation, patient safety reporting, and required time-and-attendance and workload notifications; support audits, inspections, and performance monitoring activities. Wear required identification and appropriate attire; maintain courteous and professional customer service; comply with Department of Veterans Affairs medical staff bylaws, facility rules, and all mandatory training and policy requirements. Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.
