About The Position

Is responsible for the oversight and leadership of the CT Techs for the outpatient and inpatient environments. Assists in coordinating and directing the CT workflow and helps to assist with lunch relief. Assists with tasks such as providing input for employee reviews, assisting with the scheduling of CT techs, and performance of competencies and reviews. Operates as the Supervisor in the absence of the Supervisor. Serves as the training coordinator for all CT Techs. Responsibilities This is not an exhaustive statement of duties, responsibilities, or requirements. Employees will be required to perform any job, with related instruction given by their supervisor, subject to reasonable accommodation. Performs computed tomography exams. Has an advanced knowledge of all equipment in assigned area. Has an advanced knowledge of all protocols, exams and interventional procedures to be performed. Actively learning all aspects of new equipment or procedures. Coordinates the scheduling, transportation, and preparation of patients.? Obtains pertinent clinical data and accesses previous images prior to procedures. Assists physicians with CT exams and procedures including biopsies, drainages, and other CT interventional procedures. Thorough knowledge of sterile technique and set up of anesthesia machine.? Assists transferring patients from wheelchairs and gurneys to the CT table using appropriate lifting techniques.? Ability to access appropriate peripheral IVs and their patency for use with a power injector. Ability to assess when to hand inject.? Thorough knowledge of their role during any emergency Code situation.? Has a complete knowledge of all necessary supplies and their location.? Has a thorough knowledge of EPIC, PACS and other computer systems.? Room and patient are ready when radiologist arrives to perform exams.? Assists physicians during procedures and anticipates their needs in order to expedite patient care.? Communicates equipment problems to supervisors and fellow staff members.? Utilizes down time productively and encourages staff to do the same.? Assure compliance with radiation safety ad Title 17 rules and regulations. Adheres to the use of safety practices such as the ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) model sparing exposure whenever possible. Ensures compliance with Hospital policies procedures and established CT scanning protocols. (20%) Produces quality images.? Has a thorough knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, physiology and positioning for each procedure.? Demonstrates and maintains a current level of knowledge in all aspects of imaging and remains current with changes and advances in the imaging field.? Completed images are positioned properly.? Completed images demonstrate accurate CT techniques.? Adheres to established CT exam protocols.? Accurately identifies the patient and exam.? Practices sterile technique to prevent contamination.? Practices standard precautions, as well as helps with hand hygiene audits. (15%) Performs exams in a timely manner.? Exams are performed quickly while not compromising patient care or exam quality.? Actively shares in patient volume.? Uses time effectively to ensure exams are completed as soon as possible.? Transports patients as time permits to ensure exams are completed quickly.? Coordinates work flow with team members. (15%) Maintains accurate and complete patient and departmental records.? When completing exams, billing is accurate.? The indications for the exam are documented in the PACS system.? Verifies correct exam title is displayed in the PACS system.? Verifies completion of correct forms and procedure records for exam.? Completed exam forms are scanned into the PACS system.? Avoids the use of prohibited abbreviations in documentation.? Consistently uses time clocks to accurately record hours worked.? Keeps timecard correction forms accurate and up to date.? Cleaning, refrigerator and defibrillator logs are completed as assigned.? Complies with hospital policies and procedures.? Cooperates fully in all risk management activities and investigations. (10%) Works as a team player.? Presents a positive, professional and respectful attitude at all times.? Communicates politely with other staff.? Proactively assists co-workers.? Stays late as needed to help with high volume periods.? Proactively assists in the orientation and training of new employees.? Proactively assists in training of students.? Willing to work extra shifts or adjusts work schedule as needed.? Assists in maintaining supply levels and helps check for expired supplies.? Cleans room and equipment after each exam.? Assists with setting up training on equipment with the different vendors.? Assists with CT meetings, reports, schedules, competencies and ACR Accreditation. (10%) Provides quality customer service.? Follows the spirit of the CHS Patients First philosophy.? Maintains a positive attitude, dealing with staff and patients in a constructive manner.? Consistently follows the AIDET standard.? Adheres to HIPAA by utilizing hospital systems only to perform required job functions.? Consistently logs out of PACS to protect patient information.? Transports patients to minimize their wait time.? Keeps noise levels low when patients are present. Private conversations do not occur in the presence of patients. (10%) Provides leadership and serves as a role model for staff.? Maintains a cooperative and positive attitude befitting the role.? Acts as a role model and mentor through a positive work ethic and proactive teaching.? Supports change through positive communication.? Acts as a resource for equipment and department protocols.? Seeks out tasks to help staff? Acts as a problem solver. (10%) Provide technical support and scheduling of vendor supplied CT ancillary devices for procedures. ? Expertise and professional judgment assisting in the day-to-day activities of staff. ? The Lead Tech will assist the Supervisor, performing assigned tasks, collaborating with the Supervisor on performance evaluations and competencies. ? The Lead Tech is expected to remain competent with all skills, acts as a resource and provides coaching, training, and support to staff. ? Lead Tech is expected to be proficient with crucial conversation skills and able to give feedback and redirection to fellow techs in the moment. ? Serves as the training coordinator for all new and existing technologists and PCT?s. Offers help and encouragement to staff, participates in CT Department meetings and serves as a go-to for staff. Communicates effectively with management. Performs assigned audits to ensure department quality. Provides daily work direction as needed to ensure appropriate department coverage. Functions as a leader, ensures optimum team performance by providing leadership through support and assistance to achieve the department's organizational goals of superior customer service and quality patient care. ? Assumes responsibility of Supervisor duties when Supervisor is absent. (10%)

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited radiologic technologist program.
  • Valid California Radiologic Technologist license.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • ARRT registered in Computed Tomography.
  • Venipuncture certification.
  • Ability to use specialized radiology and other health care equipment.
  • Basic skills in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of possible procedure complications and the ability to respond appropriately.
  • Able to prioritize exams utilizing established department protocols, possessing strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that reflect a positive attitude and a sense of commitment to patients, work associates, and community.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and tact in providing strong leadership, guidance, and assistance, maintaining composure in a fast paced and at times stressful environment.
