About The Position

The Computed Tomography Technologist (DRT – CT) operates dual-energy CT systems to perform high-quality diagnostic CT imaging of the head, neck, chest, abdomen/pelvis, spine, extremities, and vascular studies for veteran patients in a complex, high-acuity environment. The position requires 24/7 coverage with 12-hour shifts and on-call responsibilities, with a 30-minute report time.

Requirements

• Advanced ARRT (CT) plus ARRT (R); California license(s) as applicable.
• 2+ years full-time, current CT experience within the last 3 years.
• IV certification and demonstrated IV start/contrast administration competency.
• BLS; strong PACS/EMR skills; English fluency.

Responsibilities

• Screen and prep patients; obtain histories and consent as required; establish IV access and perform contrast injections (per protocol).
• Perform CT exams per VA protocols with appropriate dose optimization and radiation safety practices.
• Prepare rooms, supplies, and contrast; maintain crash-cart/contrast safety readiness.
• Post-process and transmit images to PACS; complete documentation in VistA/CPRS.
• Monitor patients for contrast reactions; initiate appropriate interventions and escalation.
• Collaborate with radiologists to tailor protocols for diagnostic quality and patient safety.
• Support quality control, peer review, and continuous improvement initiatives.
