About The Position

Under general supervision, provides consultations and expertise on computer applications to help develop solutions to scientific research problems, and aids in the management of raw and processed data. Consults with researchers to determine needs; performs computerized data processing operations and statistical analyses of research data; aids in the automation of data processing and management through programming, debugs existing tools or pipelines, and assists in documentation; assists in interpretation and reporting of results. May supervise students. This role will support scientific research by providing expertise in computational tools and data management. The incumbent will collaborate with researchers to assess needs, perform data processing and statistical analyses, and develop or enhance automated workflows. Additional responsibilities include programming, debugging, documenting research tools, and contributing to the interpretation and reporting of research findings.

Responsibilities

  • Developing New Research Projects to include: developing databases using multiple computer applications (REDCap, Access, Excel) to facilitate the execution of the study, including data capture, reminder systems, creation of summary tables, collection of participants vs. non-participants, collection of vital status, and contact information of the eligible population.
  • Provide guidance with regards to data capture and database solutions that are unique and personalized to the needs of each new study.
  • Developing case report forms and surveys using Teleform software: create case-report forms and surveys that includes automating and managing data exports.
  • Report Generation to include: creating automated data reports to monitor study progress, clean data, and export customized datasets for analysis for all the ICOS faculty members.
  • Programming databases and database management to include: managing the large and complex databases that are used by the ICOS members for their research projects; provide solutions when programming or database errors are encountered in existing projects and ensure that the data are recovered satisfactorily.
  • Computing needs to include: assisting the faculty members and their staff with computing needs such as downloading and managing large datasets from external sources onto the servers, and managing the data in a secure and HIPAA compliant fashion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
