About The Position

Effective use of disruptive technologies is at the heart of Biogen’s strategy to discover and develop highly differentiated medicines. We are investing in human genetics, genomics, digital technologies and advanced analytics to address scientific questions that will improve the discovery and development of the next generation of therapeutics. The Translational Biology Organization in Research and Early Development at Biogen is responsible for providing and analyzing genetic, genomic, cellular and in vivo data to support target validation and the therapeutic rationale for Biogen’s drug discovery research teams and to help target treatments based on genetics in our clinical development programs. This position will be the Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data subject matter expert responsible for defining the key QC metrics needed for NGS applications as well as developing analysis pipelines from raw data QC to analysis report that are aligned with community best practices where applicable. The successful candidate will be deeply interested in comparing performance of competing algorithms and will be sufficiently familiar with experimental design principles to ensure the most effective pipelines are deployed resulting in the delivery of high quality data analysis package to portfolio projects. The person will work closely with the NGS core scientists, computational biologists and RU scientists to understand the assays deployed, gather requirements for down-stream analysis and translate those into the appropriate QC and processing pipelines. The person will be able to prototype pipelines and work with software architects/engineers in the Scientific Computing group to turn into production software. The successful candidate will be skilled at working in a highly matrixed, collaborative research environment as well as maintain and foster a strong network with the key academic and genome centers to ensure Biogen’s NGS QC & analysis pipelines are aligned to community standards. The person will lead omics data analysis support to research unit and worldwide medicine to have scientific impact by publication of high impact works. #LI-SK1

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical drug discovery and development process with a relevant track record on both R or D side of the business is desired.
  • Deep experience with the analysis of omics data sets in clinical research is required.
