The Comptroller is a key member of the Survival Flight finance leadership team and is responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting operations for the organization. This role ensures accuracy, integrity, and compliance of the company's financial activities while supporting strategic initiatives and organizational growth. This position is full-time, exempt, and in-office at our Chandler, Arizona Billing Office. The Comptroller will have direct supervisory responsibilities over assigned accounting and billing staff and will work closely with the CFO and other senior leaders across the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably at the controller or assistant controller level.
  • Experience in healthcare, EMS, aviation, transportation, or multi-state operations strongly preferred.

  • CPA or CMA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Direct daily accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger management, and fixed asset accounting.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Deliver financial reports, variance analyses, and performance indicators to the CFO and executive leadership.
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal financial policies.
  • Develop and maintain short-term and long-term financial forecasts, cash flow projections, and operational performance assessments.
  • Monitor financial performance against budgets and provide recommendations for corrections or improvements.
  • Establish, maintain, and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy.
  • Oversee internal and external audit processes, ensuring timely completion and resolution of audit findings.
  • Ensure financial compliance with state and federal EMS regulations, including Medicare/Medicaid and commercial payor billing requirements.
  • Supervise and develop accounting staff, providing coaching, mentorship, and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a culture of accuracy, integrity, and continuous improvement within the finance team.
  • Collaborate with Billing Office leadership to ensure efficient, compliant, and accurate billing processes for air and ground EMS operations.
  • Work closely with operations leadership to provide financial insights relating to cost management, reimbursement, and business initiatives.
  • Support the CFO with financial modeling, capital expenditure reviews, and strategic planning activities.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and optimize financial systems and workflows.
  • Participate in companywide initiatives supporting growth, compliance, and operational efficiency.
